Mac and cheese
- serves 3
- 30 min
- level: easy
You need
- 250 g macaroni
- 30 g butter, 30 g flour
- 500 ml milk
- 200 g strong cheddar, grated (and a handful extra for the top)
- a pinch of mustard powder, salt, pepper
Do this
- Boil the pasta in salted water 2 minutes less than the packet says. Drain.
- In the same pot melt the butter, whisk in the flour, cook 1 minute.
- Add the milk a little at a time, whisking, until thick and smooth.
- Turn the heat off. Stir in the cheese until melted. Add mustard, salt, pepper.
- Mix in the pasta. Eat now, or sprinkle cheese on top and grill for 5 minutes.
Note to self: The only dish I have shipped without a bug. Add the cheese off the heat, or it goes grainy. Grate it yourself: bagged cheese does not melt as well.
