My Horrid Cooking Journey

Burger

  • 30 min
  • level: easy

You need

  • 400 g beef mince (20% fat is best)
  • 2 burger buns, 2 slices of cheese
  • lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion
  • ketchup, mayo, mustard
  • salt and pepper

Do this

  1. Split the mince in two and shape into patties a little wider than the bun. Press a dent in the middle with your thumb.
  2. Salt and pepper the outside just before cooking.
  3. Heat a pan until very hot. Cook 3 to 4 minutes per side. Do not press it down.
  4. Put the cheese on in the last minute and cover the pan so it melts.
  5. Toast the buns cut-side down for 1 minute. Build: sauce, lettuce, patty, tomato, pickles, bun.

Note to self: Not everything needs optimising. Pressing the patty squeezes out the juice. Leave it alone. Chill the shaped patties 15 minutes and they hold together better.
